Access Keys

Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. If using a Windows operating system
you can press ALT + an access key; using a Macintosh operating system, you can press Control + an access key. Pressing
ENTER will take you to that page.

Customising your browser

You can use the access keys to make navigating the website easier, but you may wish to make the pages easier to read by changing the background colour, text colour, font size and font style on your browser.

You can remove all the styles defined got the site.

To do this in Internet Explorer:

  1. Click on the 'Tools' menu.
  2. Click on the 'Internet Options' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Accessibility' button(at the bottom of the 'General 'tab'.)

You will see the following options:

  1. Tick all the option that you would like to apply
  2. Click OK.

Changing the background and text colour on the website

In Internet explorer:

  1. Click on the 'Tools' menu item.
  2. Click on the 'Internet Options' menu item.
  3. Click on the 'Accessibility' button (at the bottom of the 'General' tab)
  4. Tick the 'Ignore colours specified on Web pages' option.
  5. Click 'OK' to save your settings and return to the Internet options screen.
  6. Click on 'Colors….'
  7. Untick 'Use windows colors'.
  8. Select your preferred text and background colours.
  9. Click 'OK' to save your settings and return to the options screen.
  10. Click 'OK' again to close the 'Internet options' screen.

Changing the font size

In Internet Explorer:

Click on the 'View' menu.

  1. Click on 'text size'.
  2. Select the text size you would like to change to (such as 'Largest').

In Firefox:

Click on the 'View' menu.

  1. Click on 'Text size'.
  2. Click in 'Increase' or 'Decrease' until the text size is right for you.
  3. Click on 'Normal' to return the text size to the web page default.

Changing the font style

In Internet explorer:

  1. Click on the 'Tools' menu.
  2. Click on 'Internet options'.
  3. Click on the 'Accessibility' button (at the bottom of the 'General' tab)
  4. Tick the 'Ignore font styles specified on Web pages' option.
  5. Click 'OK' to save your settings and return to the Internet options screen.
  6. Click on 'Fonts'.
  7. Select the font you want to use.
  8. Click 'OK' to save your settings and return to the Internet options screen.
  9. Click 'OK' again to close the Internet options screen.

In Firefox:

  1. Click on the 'Tools' menu.
  2. Click on 'Options'.
  3. Click on 'Fonts & Colors…'.
  4. Decide if you want to use serif or sans-serif font. If you choose to use a serif font (such as Times New Roman), select the font you want to use from the serif drop down list. If you choose to use a sans-serif font (such as Arial), select the font of your choice from the sans serif drop down list and tick the 'Always use my Fonts' check box.
  5. Click 'OK' button to return to the Internet options screen.

Search Tips

The Search facility can be accessed from the Search box on the menu bar at the top of all pages within the site. The Search allows you to search the full database records for all Glasgow's Health Hub resources.

Advanced Search

If you have not found the information you require from browsing the topic list or by using the search engine, then Glasgow's Health Hub provides the facility for you to extend your search to a more extensive database which incorporates resources aimed at health professionals, clinicians and the general public.

Order of results

Regardless of the search or browse option you choose to use, results will be displayed in the following order. Glasgow results will always be listed first, followed by those originating from Scotland, United Kingdom, United States, Europe and Worldwide.
