Search Tips
The Search facility can be accessed from the Search box on the menu bar at the top of all pages within the site. The Search allows you to search the full database records for all Glasgow's Health Hub resources.
- Enter a keyword or words into the Search box and select from the drop
down menu the option required for your search.
The default setting of "All Words" will automatically add "and" to your search terms and the search results are not affected by the order in which your search words are entered. - For example, if you enter the search term "cancer treatments" the search function will look for all records where the words "cancer" and "treatments" occur. The results will also include results where the search terms occur in the order in which you have entered them. To make it easier to identify those results the search function will highlight the search terms where they occur in bold text.
- The results would be the same if you were to enter the keywords "treatments cancer" but as it is unlikely that the words would occur in that order as a phrase you will not find the words highlighted in bold text.
- If you want to narrow your search results then select the "Exact Phrase" option from the drop down menu beside the Search box. The search facility will now only return results where the specific phrase you have entered occurs e.g. "cancer treatments".
Advanced Search
If you have not found the information you require from browsing the topic list or by using the search engine, then Glasgow's Health Hub provides the facility for you to extend your search to a more extensive database which incorporates resources aimed at health professionals, clinicians and the general public.
Order of results
Regardless of the search or browse option you choose to use, results will be displayed in the following order. Glasgow results will always be listed first, followed by those originating from Scotland, United Kingdom, United States, Europe and Worldwide.
