Accessibility Statement
This page describes some of the features that have been incorporated into the site to aid accessibility for all users
General
The aim of the site is to provide a gateway to other websites and thus it was deemed appropriate that all links to external resources should open in a new browser window.
Standards Compliance
Visual Design
- The site uses cascading style sheets for both design and layout purposes. If your browser does not support style sheets or if you have chosen to disable this feature then the content of the pages on the site will still be readable.
- The site uses only relative font sizes which are compatible with user-specified "text-size" option available in Internet Explorer and other browsers.
Images
All images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes as required by internationally recognised Web accessibility guidelines.
Access keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the web site. If using a Windows operating system you can press ALT + an access key; using a Macintosh operating system, you can press Control + an access key. Pressing ENTER will take you to that page.
All pages on this site define the following access keys:
- Alt + H - Home
- Alt + N - News
- Alt + F - Nominate a Site
- Alt + C - Contact
- Alt + M - Sitemap
- Alt + S - Search
- Alt + G - Go
The homepage aslo defines the following keys:
- Alt + A - About
- Alt + 0 - Accessibility
- Alt + P - Privacy
- Alt + U - User guide and help page
- Alt + Z - Advanced search option
Tab Indexing
All links and form controls have been given a tab weighting to allow users to use the keyboard to move quickly through the interactive elements of the site.
